What an extraordinary and truly moving story is Martin Sixsmith's "Lost Child of Philomena Lee." I could almost feel the anguish and deep sorry of both the mother and child - namely, Philomena Lee and Michael Hess. I remember hearing Michael's name from those Republican days of Ronald Reagan & George Bush, Sr. Tragically, such sad and desperate human stories are all too common from Ireland's long past history of child abuse and emotional exploitation by the Holy Catholic Church. The nuns or religious sisters of Roscrea, much like the abusive Christian Brothers at the Letterfrack Industrial School for Boys, seemed to be absolutely devoid of all the agnoy and awful pain they so mindlessly and so callously inflicted on such people like Philomena and her "stolen and sold" Mike. If there is hell and damnation, then surely those Roscrea nuns and Letterfrack priests should be there! I salute Martin Sixsmith for bringing us such a heart rendering story.
Truly, Uncle Monty.
