High Court nomination for former FG hopeful | Irish Examiner

High Court nomination for former FG hopeful | Irish Examiner: The Government has nominated barrister Colm MacEochaidh, a former Fine Gael election candidate, for appointment to the High Court.
Mr Mac Eochaidh ran unsuccessfully for the party in the 2002 Dáil and 2007 Seanad elections.

He was also one of the two men behind the placing of a newspaper advert in 1995 offering a £10,000 reward for information that led to a conviction or indictment for planning corruption.

The advert, and the information received, led to the establishment of the planning tribunal.

At its weekly meeting yesterday, the Cabinet decided to nominate Mr Mac Eochaidh to fill the vacancy on the High Court arising from the appointment of Mr Justice John MacMenamin to the Supreme Court.

The Government said the appointment followed receipt of a list of suitable candidates from the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board.?SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND STATE,HOW MANY JUDGE'S WERE APPOINTED FROM A WORKING-CLASS "DISADVANTAGED"BACKGROUND?OR WHERE COULD I FIND THE STATISTICS FOR SUCH APPOINTMENTS?
