Ombudsman's bid to probe garda car death rejected - National News - Independent.ie: But Gda Sgt Andrew Keegan, who was the lead investigator into the accident, launched a judicial review of the GSOC investigation claiming that the watchdog did not have the legal authority to investigate the case in the public interest.
Mr Justice John Hedigan ruled in favour of Sgt Keegan. He upheld his argument that the ombudsman did not have the jurisdiction to investigate the case as a matter of public interest because it did not admit the complaint for investigation in the first instance.?
